hiking: lacs jovet (2174m)

We took it easy this morning, slept-in, sat outside in the sun, ate blackberries before heading to the mountains for a light afternoon hike. Our hike to Lacs Jovet starts out on an ancient Roman road connecting France and Italy. We dropped down from the trail to a cool spot near a river for lunch soon into the trek.

The climb to Lacs Jovet was gradual, and surprisingly busy, especially through a long stretch of pasture. Because of our late start, we made our way up to the lakes against a steady current of other day hikers on their way back down.

It was warm, and our legs we worn out from the previous day's long hike, so as soon as we reached the first lake, off with our shoes and into the blue glacial water. Refreshing, but BRRRRRRRRR.

After a loop around and a visit to another lake just beyond, we made our way back as the sun sank below the peaks, and found ourselves finishing just as full darkness settled on the trail.
