It's a beautiful morning for a drive up to Alsace (but hard to leave the view from our window). Derek and I are celebrating 8 years being married...that's the longest we've ever been married, so far. We're driving up to Rouffach and plan to visit a few towns along the route des vins d'Alsace. Our first stop is a picnic lunch among the ruins of the three castles of Husseren les Chateaux overlooking the vineyards.
Onward to check-in and a walk through Rouffach.
After a nice stroll, we headed out along the wine route to visit Gueberschwihr.
Then on to Eguisheim to wander under overflowing window boxes on the picture perfect cobbled roads lined with sorbet-colored timbered houses. We gawked at the stork nests on the steeples, ate a bretzel, and tasted a few wines.
We caught the last of the fading sunlight back on the chateau lawn with a glass of local riesling before settling in for dinner...cheese cart anyone?
