Today was a lovely day to take a spin around the lake. Derek and I ran the Lac Joux 24k this afternoon. With a 2:50 pm start, we circled the lake along beaches, up a few switchbacks, and over a long boardwalk. The footing took more concentration than I remembered, since even the flatter sections were uneven with tree roots, rocks, and some tight turns, but beautiful the entire loop. The view from mid-way stretches the length of the long lake...so much still ahead. The race was tough, but we both finished ahead of our times from last year. I was happy when I looked back and discovered that I had cut 22'35" from my finish last year- nearly a minute per kilometer! Thank goodness for that- I definitely didn't have another 20 minutes of running left in me.
