Derek and I had the chance to run a loop near Athenaz, Switzerland this morning, directly across the river from us. After a little time along fields, the route turned into horse trails and nature preserve, quite muddy, but fabulous views. Straight up a long hill before flattening for the finish. The course is one of four that we will be running as a weekly series touring the Swiss countryside. We're both really looking forward to the races and excited that we'll be running alongside some friends Wednesday evenings (starting May 30th).
After the run, we decided to walk and explore a bit more of the green and gold fields.
Taking advantage of the nice weather, we also took an evening stroll. Grape vines are leafing. We spotted a wheatear perched on a post and watched swifts diving high above the fields.
Just before reaching home, we noticed a fox sitting in the road (exactly where I had seen a pair last week). We took a closer look and saw their two cubs-so sweet.
