fasnacht

Basel’s getting ready for Fasnacht which lasts 72 hours beginning about 72 hours after we leave. We'll just miss it...maybe next year. We spent the day popping in and out of shops, cafe in a cathedral, multiple meals, and enjoying the preparations for the upcoming event: masks in the windows, bands practicing, and puzzle piece decorations before our evening train ride back to Geneve.

vitra: today’s the big day

The big day is finally here...the nudge that brought Michele across the pond...the Vitra Design Campus in Weil am Rhein, Germany about fifteen minutes outside of Basel.

We started off with breakfast in the Vitra House cafe before beginning a two hour architectural tour or the campus including Zaha Hadid's dynamic fire station and Tadao Ando's contemplative conference pavilion.

Now let's go see some chairs...

A small sampling of photos of Michele testing the inventory:

Time for another meal in the cafe, a spin through the gift shop, and the doors are already closing for the evening.

Auf Wiedersehen Vitra.
