We packed up the car with skis, food, gifts, and even the tree for a late morning departure to our week-log cabin stay in LaPraz, a tiny ancient village perched above a quiet valley in the Alps. After a few short hours drive, and up some icy switchbacks, we arrived at the stone cabin, carried our bags down the narrow footpath, and settled-in, just in time for more snow. Our first evening, we had time to play in the new snow, eat a fantastic lasagna dinner, and cozy-up by the fire. We're looking forward to a festive week, good friends, and good ski.

christmas kitty
Pinot is experiencing the Christmas festivities for the first time. So far, she has only climbed the tree once, broken a single ornament, battled the stockings, been wrapped and jingle-belled, but her favorite holiday treat is nibbling the low hanging branches.
I finished two pair of jingle bell slippers, and in the kitchen, savory muffins, candied almonds, and chocolate chip cookies.
Holiday-prep around the house: eating clementines, snuggling under wool blankets, lots of Christmas music, coco, and kitty.
