cols & summits

We have a lot of driving ahead of us this weekend, so we thought it would be a good idea to wear ourselves out with a 30km, 1800m+, multi-summit tour of Chablais. I wanted to take Derek to experience a run I had done with Laura a few weeks back, but in reverse, and with a little addition. It was horribly hot which made the run extra difficult, but the views were rewarding and we had the mountains almost entirely to ourselves on this steamy day. I made an effort to drink from every fountain we passed and we plunged our faces into the water each opportunity.

Just after we began the final descent, I stopped to pet some friendly donkeys, and we had a short burst of rain. So refreshing! By the time we made it down from the mountain, we were dry again, and hot, so we dipped ourselves into a small stream just before our finish and drove home soaking wet.

june

June is starting with some heat, but thankfully mixed with some clouds and storms for relief. I am happy to be running some intervals this week, after a day off for via ferrata. I have been missing skimo and cross country skiing  lately, and looking for ways to keep variety in my activities- biking, via ferrata, and yoga besides changing the distances, terrain, and intensity of runs, plus VK training occasionally too.
